Wirral Grammar School for Girls is a selective state grammar school for girls. Its 11+ entrance exam uses the Quest Admissions board and does not include an interview stage. While there is no formal catchment, the school prioritises applicants living closer to the school.

If you want your daughter held to high academic expectations in a settled, well-ordered school where she will genuinely be known, Wirral Grammar School for Girls has been doing exactly that for families on the Wirral for generations. It is a selective state grammar in Bebington, and one of the area's long-established girls' schools. Its vision is refreshingly plain: for every girl to reach her full potential in a healthy, happy and stimulating environment, set within a culture where pupils are recognised, valued and supported, including those with additional needs. It has provided free education locally for more than 80 years and remains a popular first choice for families across the Wirral.

The school opened in 1931 as Wirral County Grammar School for Girls, starting out as a fee-paying school of around 900 girls before the education reforms of the 1940s made it free for all. In its long history it has had only seven headteachers, which tells you something about how settled and consistent the place is. That continuity shows in an academically serious culture, but the school is careful to keep a broad and balanced curriculum across the full range of subjects rather than narrowing too early, and it runs its own sixth form. Former pupils include the actress and singer Kate Robbins.

It suits an able, hard-working girl who wants high expectations alongside a supportive environment where she will be looked after rather than left to sink or swim.
