Walthamstow Hall is an independent day school for girls in Sevenoaks, Kent, offering Year 7 entry. The 11+ admissions process is a single-stage assessment using the ISEB Pretest, alongside a formal interview stage. The school is designed for a small roll, focusing on recognizing each pupil as an individual of intrinsic value.

Walthamstow Hall suits a curious girl who is willing to have a go at things without needing to be the best at them. It is an independent day school for girls, and the senior school takes pupils from Year 7 through to Year 13, on Holly Bush Lane in Sevenoaks, Kent (TN13 3UL), within walking distance of the station. There is no boarding. The roll is small by design, and the school's own words for what it wants are plain enough: every pupil seen as 'the person of intrinsic value that each one is'.

The name confuses people, so it is worth saying clearly that the school is in Kent, not east London. It was founded in 1838 in Walthamstow, then a village outside the capital, as a school for the daughters of missionaries working abroad, and it moved to Sevenoaks in 1882, bringing its old name with it. The original Arts and Crafts building is still the middle of the site, and lunch is eaten under the vaulted ceiling of the Victorian dining room. Drama is taken as seriously as maths, with a theatre of its own and full-time drama staff, while lacrosse is played by girls of every standard. Since September 2025 the junior school has sat on the same campus, so younger and older sisters cross paths daily.

The Good Schools Guide describes girls who are 'at ease in their own skin', and reports parents calling the place 'definitely not a hothouse'; the therapy dog and the peer mentoring draw particular warmth. The head speaks of wanting 'quietly confident individuals'. It suits a girl who would rather be genuinely known by a few hundred people than counted among a few thousand.
