Its roots go back to Gillingham Technical High School, which moved to this site in January 1967. Boys and girls have learned here together since 1972, when the school first became co-educational, and it took the Rainham Mark name after a local reorganisation.
The school says it is open to any academically able young person, whatever their background, with extra support and bursaries offered where they are needed. The approach rests on high expectations, and the wider offer leans into leadership and creativity alongside the academic work. Being co-educational from the first year up gives the place a settled, mixed feel that some families prefer to a single-sex setting.
