Hoe Bridge School is an independent, co-educational school in Woking, Surrey, offering Year 7 entry. The 11+ admissions process consists of two stages, utilizing the ISEB Pretest and independent assessments, and includes an interview stage. The school merged with Greenfield School in 2026 to become Woking's first all-through independent school.

If you are weighing up whether your child should move at eleven or at thirteen, Hoe Bridge is a school where the question softens. It is an independent co-educational school on the edge of Woking, in twenty-two acres of grounds and woodland with a listed country house, Hoe Place, at the centre of it. Children can join at eleven into Year 7 or at thirteen into Year 9, and both routes lead to the same place, with no obligatory move at the usual leaving points. Following a 2026 merger with Greenfield School it now runs from six months to sixteen, and calls itself Woking's first all-through independent school.

Hoe Place was once a favourite retreat for Lady Castlemaine, one of Charles II's mistresses, and a small chapel still stands nearby. Children move between old rooms and newer classrooms all day without appearing to notice, which tells you something about how settled they are. The Good Schools Guide calls it 'a warm and welcoming independent through school'. Everyone belongs to Cornwall, Kent, Gloucester or York, and the houses compete at sport, music, debating and charity events, which is often where a quieter child finds a footing.

Days are long but sensibly shaped. School starts at 8.15, senior pupils finish at 5.30 with homework already done under supervision, and clubs run on until 6.30. The school's own line is that children 'learn best when they feel happy and supported', and it talks about itself in terms of its staff and children rather than its buildings. It suits a child who would rather be known well in a smaller school than arrive at eleven somewhere much larger.
