Francis Holland School Regent's Park is an independent girls' day school. For Year 7 entry, the school uses the Quest Admissions exam, which is a single-stage process with no interview. It is part of The London 11+ Consortium.

If you have a daughter who is academic and motivated but would be happier being involved than hothoused, Francis Holland Regent's Park is the sort of place to picture her in. It is a girls' day school just north of Marylebone, a short walk from Regent's Park itself, and the Good Schools Guide describes a place that builds girls' intellectual curiosity and creativity, encourages them to be kind, and gets pupils of all ages to try a wide range of things. The school has deep roots: it was founded in 1878 by the Reverend Canon Francis Holland as one of the early pioneers of girls' education in London, began on Baker Street, and moved to its purpose-built home near Clarence Gate in 1915, where it has stayed ever since.

This is a busy, musical school. Music runs deep, with several choirs and orchestras alongside chamber and a cappella groups, and around two-thirds of girls take individual instrumental or singing lessons. Despite sitting in the heart of the city, the school takes sport seriously too, with its own indoor pool and gym and games played in Regent's Park and nearby grounds. It keeps a Church of England character while welcoming girls of all faiths and none, with values that centre on knowledge, compassion, spirit and perseverance.

The school suits a girl who wants to throw herself into school life, sing in a choir or pick up a new sport, and be known as an individual rather than a number. Pastoral care is a point of pride here, with the sense that no problem is too small to raise. Led since September 2022 by headteacher Mrs Katharine Woodcock, it is a calm, ambitious choice for a daughter in central London.

To apply, contact the Registrar or Bursar and complete a confidential financial assessment.

At 11+ entry the school offers Academic, Art and Music scholarships. These recognise strong ability in a particular area and come with a modest reduction in fees, plus enrichment opportunities for those who hold them. Sports and Organ scholarships come later, at 13+. A scholarship is separate from a bursary, so if you also need help with fees you can ask about a means-tested bursary as well. Contact the Registrar for details.

What is the Francis Holland School Regent's Park 11+ interview like?

Every applicant is interviewed, so there is no need to worry about reaching a cut-off first. The interview is a friendly chance for your daughter to get to know the school and for staff to get to know her, looking at how she thinks and solves problems rather than testing facts. It follows the written assessment, which is the shared London 11+ Consortium paper. The school also asks her current school for a reference.
